Celebrating Success

At St Michael's we think it is important to celebrate all successes, whether academic or otherwise. Here is the place where you can read about the amazing things our children have got up to both in and out of school.

  • Kelly is honoured at the HCL Awards 2019

    Wed 06 Nov 2019

We are delighted to announce that our fabulous catering manager, Kelly Ferry, recently received an award at the Herts Catering 2019 Award Ceremony. She was the recipient of the "Cook Manager of the year (primary)" award in our region.

We have so many reasons to be thankful that Kelly is part of the St Michael's family. She turns up to school every day with a smile and a fantastic 'can do' attitude. She is always willing to discuss ways to make improvements not only to the cooking and serving of the food, but also to the environment in which the children eat. It is a credit to Kelly that the staff on her team work well together and share her positive work ethic.

Kelly has been the Cook Manager at St Michael's since January 2012, during which time she has achieved her Level 2 Diploma in Food Production and Cooking, Level 2 in Hospitality and Catering, and OCR Functional Skills in English and Maths Level 1. We are really proud of these achievements.

Kelly is always happy to help and support staff when giving food technology lessons, including cooking the children's creations, proving bread etc. Kelly also attends our Parent Consultation evenings, providing taster food from that term's menu. At  this year's Sports Day she created balloon displays and set up a stall selling food and drinks, as well as providing packed lunches for our picnic. Last December, Kelly took time on a Saturday morning to prepare, cook and serve turkeys (yes, several!) and trimmings for our Winter Wonderland Fete, and most recently has painted our serving hatch with blackboard paint, in her own time, to smarten up the area.

We are very proud of Kelly and her achievements and feel sure that you will be able to see why she was awarded this accolade.

    Congratulations Kelly!
