Year 5 football

Our February fixtures night was played on grass rather than Astro and was extremely well attended by schools from both Welwyn and Hatfield.  The team played 3 matches with a 3-0 win against Waterside (congratulations to Josh for scoring all 3 goals), a 3-0 defeat against St John’s Lemsford and a 2-0 defeat against Creswick.  Score lines don’t always reflect the games and we did have missed opportunities as well as some very good saves by Finley in goal.  Well played team. Onwards and upwards!

The first fixture night for our Year 5 team was challenging and freezing!  Whilst other schools fielded mixed age or Year 6 players, our squad started to bond as a year group.  Those who have played already this season supported their friends and a potentially strong side are already emerging.  Finley was alert in goal and Lucas, Oskar, Josh and Jared have the stamina and enthusiasm to keep up with the game.  Oliver, Teddy and Ben communicated well to guide their teammates and we look forward to more games to test our new structure.
