Supporting Chi with Year 2 Scooterbility

Our ATAs took their first assembly today (16th December) and are passionate about encouraging active travel. They presented their ideas and asked the school for ideas too.

We are pleased to announce our new Active Travel Ambassadors for this academic year (2022-23). We had so many applications this year from our Year 5 children, who are passionate about safe travel and the environment, that we had to pick them at random as it was too difficult to choose.

Our Travel Ambassadors are Cerys, Izaak, Emily, Thomas P and Sophie. We can't wait to see what they will come up with. They will have a meeting with Chi from Herts Road Safety to discuss some ideas.

Our Active Travel Ambassadors (ATAs) for 2022-23

This year (November 2021) we are delighted to have our team of Active Travel Ambassadors back (formerly the Junior Travel Ambassadors). Congratulations to Harry, Erin, Abbie and Maddy in Beech Class, for their successful applications. They are all looking forward to working on projects to improve safety around our local area to keep our school community safe. They are going to look at the issues of parking and consider a Walking Bus to encourage walking to school from the Village Hall.

Clean Air Day 2022 - Our ATAs put on a presentation to the school

Walk to School Week 2022 - Chi, our Herts Road Safety Officer came into school to meet with the ATAs and see how the week was progressing.

JTAs

In September 2019 Mrs Martin spoke to Year 5 about the role of a Junior Travel Ambassador. The children had lots of ideas to contribute and were passionate about improving safety around our school and local area. Those that wished to, filled out an application form after which Chi, from the Herts Road Safety Team, came in to award the successful candidates with their JTA packs. Well done to Megan, Jack C, Connie, Rachel and Matilda.

The JTAs Trialling a Walking Bus

Tuesday mornings the children are met by the JTAs at the Village Hall at 8:35 am. KS 2 can walk with the bus, KS1 must be accompanied by their adult.

The JTA Assembly
