'Shine as Lights in the World'

Redwood Class

Islam:

In this unit, we explored of Islam, one of the world’s major religions. Pupils will learn that Islam is a religion followed by Muslims all around the world. They will discover that Muslims believe in one God, called Allah, and that their holy book is the Qur’an. We looked at important practices such as daily prayer, giving to those in need, and following the 5 Pillars of Islam. Children also learnt about special places like the mosque, and important times of the year, such as Ramadan and Eid.

We developed an understanding of Islamic beliefs and values, and reflected on how people of different faiths show kindness, respect, and care for others.

Our current topic is Salvation

Salvation:

In RE, children learn about Salvation in Christianity as part of the bigger story of the Bible. They explore how Christians believe that Jesus' death and resurrection were part of God's plan to save humanity from sin. Through Bible stories, such as Jesus' crucifixion and resurrection, they learn why Easter is so important to Christians. We also discuss how Christians show gratitude for Jesus’ sacrifice, for example, through prayer, worship, and celebrating Easter. This unit helps children understand the idea of forgiveness, new life, and hope in Christianity.
