'Shine as Lights in the World'

School Values

We have 11 school values at St.Michael's, each of which is linked to a relevant verse from the Bible.  Each value is introduced during Collective Worship and, for a month, is the theme for these special times in the school day, as well as being high profile in PSHCE lessons, RE and story times. We also combine our school values with the principles of 'My Personal Best' (please see our curriculum page under "What we learn") in order to ensure that the personal development of the whole child is achieved.

September Friendship As you wish that others would do to you, do so to them Luke 6:31
October Sharing I was hungry and you fed me, I was thirsty and you gave me a drink, I was a stranger and you invited me into your house Matthew 25:35
November Courage I command you to be strong and valiant. Do not be afraid because your God is wherever you go Joshua 1:9
December Love

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life

John 3:16
January Perseverance Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial James 1:12
February Curiosity When the large crowd learned that Jesus was there, they came John 12:9
March Hope/Reflection Let us, who were the first to hope in the Lord, praise God's glory Ephesians 1:12
April Imagination And nothing that they propose to do will now be impossible for them Genesis 11:6
May Trust/Honesty Trust the Lord. Be brave and strong and trust the Lord Psalm 26:7
June Co-operation How pleasant. For God's people to live together in harmony Psalm 133:1
July Peace Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God Matthew 5:9

Time is put aside during the school week for reflection and interactive discussion about each value. Collective worship is an occasion that all members of the school community look forward to and is inspiring on a daily basis. Values displays reflect the value of the month, whilst reminding the children what this looks like in our school where values are at our core.

We have a positive approach to behaviour, and pupils are praised and recognised in our celebration assemblies for overtly living the values. They are awarded a certificate in recognition of this.
