Good health begins with good hygiene

sick

Sickness: We would like to remind parents that children who have been sick or have had diarrhoea must stay  off school for at least 48 hours to avoid spreading illness.

headlice

Headlice: It is important to check your child’s hair regularly.  If you are unsure of the symptoms and treatment of this  condition please ask at the school office to obtain an information sheet. Pupils with long hair need it tied back.

asthma inhaler

Asthma: If your child has asthma, it is vital that their inhalers are up to date and clearly labelled in the event of an emergency.  It is also important that your child’s medical record held in school is correct which should include any allergies.

nuts

Allergies: We have a few children in school with Nut allergies.  As a result we need to inform parents that anything containing nuts CANNOT be brought in to school, particularly in packed lunch boxes.

fresh fruit

School Snacks: We have a healthy eating policy at St Michael's and request that only fresh fruit or vegetable snacks be brought in for morning break, and only water in your child's drink bottle. Children may refill their bottles at school as required.

PE bag

PE Lessons: It is important that all children have a full, named PE kit in school at all times so that they can make the most of the PE lessons and sports training that is offered at St Michael's School. Their kit should consist of plain navy blue shorts, a white St Michael's PE shirt, plain black plimsolls, and a pair of trainers for wet weather if required. Shorts and t shirts are available from the office at minimal cost.
